On 15th June members and guests of the IS of E were welcomed to the offices of Brodies LLP for an early evening seminar.

Alan Calvert and Alisdair Matheson, partners within Brodies, gave interesting presentations on the subject of an insurance broker's professional liability to its clients and insurers. This included reference to the ongoing Scottish Law Commission project on insurance law reform and practical case studies.

The IS of E would like to thank Alan and Alisdair and the firm of Brodies for hosting such a professional event and for their excellent hospitality.

04 March 2010. ISE Quiz Night
Thumbnail

At what is becoming one of the Society's most popular social events of the year, it was a close competition from start to finish. It was the final round that saw Dr Norman Dalgliesh's 'Maui Land & Pineapple' pip the Scottish Life select 'Quizteama Aguilera' to first prize at the annual quiz night.

With 12 teams competing to become ISE quiz champions and to go forward to the annual Inter-profession quiz night in April, members, their colleagues, friends and family were taken through their paces by our quizmaster Sion Matthews.

'Quizteama Aguilera', the 'Misfits' and 'Only Here for the Buffet' all kept close at the front in the early rounds with 'Ten York Place' and 'Six Pistols minus One' starting to catch up mid quiz.

However, with 20/20 in the final picture round, the team from Turcan Connell came charging across the finish line, with 'Quizteama Aguilera' finishing second, and the 'Misfits' taking third.

We hope to see more challengers come along in 2011 to see whether Maui and Pineapple, having improved their position of runners up last year to winners this year, can defend their title! Thank you to all the teams for taking part and supporting the evening, to the captains for their support and to our quizmaster. Start swotting for next year - 17th February 2011 - see our Events calendar.
